Bandstand Marathon - A celebration of the Bandstands throughout the country, a celebration of traditional music through traditional brass and silver bands.
The Bandstand Marathon first took place on the weekend of 27/28 September 2008 as part of the launch Open Weekend of the Cultural Olympiad and was organised by Music Development Agency, SUPERACT!. 50 concerts took place on 50 bandstands and performance areas from Cheltenham to Penzance and Bournemouth to Guernsey; On Sunday 27th September 2009 between the hours of 2.00pm and 4.00pm over 100 brass bands across the country took part. In 2010 it is aimed to have over 250 climbing to over 400 by 2012
This year the Bandstand Marathon will take place on Sunday 26th September 2.00pm – 4.00pm and performing here will be the Lancing Brass of the Royal British Legion.
