During 2010 the Bandstand will be 75 years old. To commemorate this very special birthday we have some unique celebrations planned….
Concerts
Firstly, we have three special concerts planned. The afternoon and evening concerts on the 28 July with the Band of the Guards Association celebrate the anniversary of the Bandstands first ever concerts and will light up the sky in the evening with a spectacular 1812 Firework concert. The Bandstands official opening all those years ago is celebrated in style on the 5th August with an afternoon concert with the ever popular Central Band of the Royal British Legion at 3pm.
Secondly, we have launched a competition and are inviting keen photographers and illustrators to come up with a winning image to be displayed to visitors around the world this summer. The winning photographer and illustrator will receive a bumper Bandstand Goody Bag including 10 copies of the limited edition postcard, a copy of their winning image framed, and an exclusive pass giving 10 free tickets to Bandstand concerts of their choice, presented in the Bandstand Bag for Life. This is your chance to be part of the celebration of one of the country’s most iconic landmarks by sharing your talent, so get your application in to us as by the 1st June 2010.
